Helikaon

Helikaon is Gemmell's reimagining of Aeneas and the central figure of the Troy trilogy. He is a prince of Dardania, the kingdom north of Troy and kin to King Priam, and a sailor and trader who commands the great ship Xanthos. A cold father and a lonely childhood left their mark; it was Odysseus who, visiting when the boy was young, gave him the name Helikaon and a way past his fear. As a man he is admired, feared by enemies and allies alike, and capable of a savagery his friends would rather not see, which makes him a marked man for Agamemnon of Mykene. Lord of the Silver Bow brings him together with Andromache, a priestess promised to Hektor, and that love runs under the whole trilogy. In Shield of Thunder he is King of Dardania, with war closing in on Troy, and Fall of Kings, finished by Stella Gemmell after her husband's death, carries him through the siege.
