Serbitar

Serbitar leads the Thirty, the warrior-priests who ride to Dros Delnoch in Legend. He is an albino, the son of a Vagrian earl who saw the boy's mental gifts as a devil's mark and tried to kill him, and he was raised instead in the temple of the Thirty under the Abbot Vintar. Like the rest of the order he is a telepath who can leave his body and fight on the spirit plane as well as with a sword, and when the order goes to war he serves as its Voice. The Thirty's tradition is grim: once called on, they fight to the end, and only one of them is sent away to begin the order again. Serbitar brings that calm, fatalistic outlook to the fortress, becomes one of Rek's most trusted advisers, and helps him search for the lost Armour of Bronze. Gemmell uses him to put a serene religious certainty alongside Rek's doubts, and some of the novel's strangest and most memorable passages take place on the spirit plane with him.
