Harad

Harad is the young axeman of The Swords of Night and Day, set a thousand years after the great Drenai heroes died. He is a Reborn, one of the people that age's priests can grow from old remains, and he was made from fragments found in Skilgannon's tomb. The remains were Druss's, and Harad is Druss's Reborn: a young giant with enormous strength, but none of the memories his maker, Landis Kan, had hoped would come with the body, so that Kan wrote him off as a failure. When the armies of the Eternal, with their Jiamads, the beast-warriors of the age, bring war close, Harad falls in beside the reborn Skilgannon, and he ends up carrying Snaga, the axe that was Druss's. How much of the old man is in him, and when it shows, is one of the novel's best threads, and at times Druss himself looks out through Harad's eyes. Readers of the earlier Druss books will recognise more than the axe.
